Film Course: Feature Films

Creating A Masterpiece

A feature film is a film that is based on one topic and is at least 90-120 minutes long. Unlike short films, a feature film often requires much more time in the editing room. Because of their increased length they also require substantially longer scripts, larger casts and more video footage. Creating a 90+ minute film is no small task. It often requires months of commitment from many different people to produce a high quality feature film.

In our film course we focus on building you up to be able to create a feature film. Starting with feature film production would be like teaching a young child about advanced mathematical algorithms before teaching them about basic addition and subtraction. In the beginning we focus on the technical aspects of filmmaking (video, sound, editing, directing etc). Then we move on to practical editing assignments so you can see how the pieces fit together. Next you will shoot a short film which will help you get a sense of completion on a project and outline the entire process for you. Only after this point will you start work on a feature film.
