Noise Reduction

Learn how to reduce the "noise" in your film's audio

If you’ve recorded your audio at the highest volume possible without distortion and with leaving room for errors, you’ll have kept your volume as far away from the sound floor as possible. This will make getting rid of audio noise a little easier. However, as we stated before, there is inherent noise just from the tape alone. Combine that with other “hiss” sounds in your room tone and you’ll still have some sort of hiss going into post production. Most mid range and all “pro” versions of MAC and PC NLE systems have “de-noiser” which you can attach to your audio tracks to minimize the noise in each clip. The results are often spectacular.
