Filmmaking Tip: Camera in a Bag!

Now we’re going to start getting very experimental. This is a technique that will allow you to follow subjects that are low to the ground while capturing fairly steady footage. It won’t be as steady as a dolly, but it could allow for some interesting shot ideas.

Again, we’re going to get the camera out of our hands to ensure it doesn’t fall victim to our slight hand twitches and body movements. We’re going to put the camera in a bag and make sure that it has a hole that is big enough for the lens. Now we can move the camera around and follow a subject or move through an area low to the ground by holding the bag by the handles and walking as steady as possible with the bag.
